Well hell....Manager just scheduled a surprise meeting with me on the day that they’re announcing layoffs. I don’t have a good feeling about this especially since I just found out one of my good buddies got laid off earlier today. Wish me luck

My only *fingers crossed* layoff experience I walked in to the office and shit was on desks in cardboard boxes...just like a movie. Said fuck that and turned around and walked out. Didn't want anything from my desk and figured they'd send the stuff if I didn't pick it up. Got a call a couple hours later...turned out I was one of the 10% of people at the facility that kept my job and they were wondering where the hell I was. I quit a few weeks later.

That’s bunk, man. On 91.7's local segment of NPR they were talking about GE focusing its layoffs to its financial sectors. And aren’t they running ads on tv with emphasis on their engineers?
Best of luck. Hopefully you keep your job.

My experience was we sat around all day waiting for our phones to ring. When your phone rang you new you were toast. Didn’t allow us to clean out our desks, they boxed it up and had it waiting for us at a scheduled pickup date.

Glad you made the cut man, that’s a shitty scenario, i’ve been on the other side of it.
